About The Long View

Like everyone, technology managers sometimes struggle to make (or coach) “long view” choices because “near term” gets in the way. Sometimes we haven’t considered the next level of abstraction (“the bigger picture”) or sometimes we have erred in our assumptions. This is not to say that there is no place for short-term actions, to the contrary. Sometimes you have to plug the hole in the dike right now in order to protect the dike for the future.
Through the process of distilling, synthesizing, and sharing, I hope to grow my own thinking relevant to the long view.
My aim is to provide advice based upon my experience punctuated with personal connection (either stories or links to relevant additional information.)
Please feel free to leave me a comment. I look forward to approving your positive, thoughtful, and insightful comments. If your comments are constructive, they will shortly be on view at Linda’s Long View. If your comments are unconstructive (mean), they will journey the long road to never-never land.
I welcome your feedback, suggestions for topics, and camaraderie.

This blog chronicles long view thinking in all aspects of life, but with special interest in technology and business.

What made you think to have a cartoon made?
Maybe down the road I would consider it!

I loved the cartoon that Viki (who posted a comment) had on my post “Resting Comfortably.” Since I had previously had great work done by Steve, I had him do this project too!

Marc:
Sorry for my tardy reply. Your comment got caught in the spam filter (I don’t check that frequently).
I am glad that you enjoy my blog. Although I’m thinking that you might not totally relate to yesterday’s post on skorts, perhaps you have a friend that will.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
